Children’s Programmer, Kinston-Lenoir County Public Library, Kinston, NC

SALARY:
Commensurate with qualifications and experience

QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or performing arts or a master’s degree in library science. Must be creative, energetic, flexible, and able to present engaging programs for ages 18 months to 12 years, and possess enthusiasm for working with and performing for children. Should have knowledge of current trends in children’s literature and a commitment to exceptional customer service. Applicant must have or be able to obtain a valid North Carolina’s driver’s license.

DUTIES:
The Children’s Programmer of the Kinston-Lenoir County Public Library presents story times, summer reading events, and other children’s programming while reporting to the Head of Children’s Services. Regular duties will also include providing quality customer service and reader’s advisory at the Children’s Department’s service desk; assisting young patrons with use of computer software and the Internet; and creating marketing and promotional materials for programming. This position requires a rotating schedule which includes some nights and weekends.
