BB&T SUPPORTS LIBRARY CONSTRUCTION

The Kinston-Lenoir County Friends of the Library is happy to announce that the BB&T Foundation has pledged to donate $15,000 to the Library Building Enhancement Campaign Fund over the next three years to help pay for the covered walkway for the expansion and renovation projecThe covered walkway was listed as an alternate in the original plan of the new library.  Due to rising costs of materials and labor, the walkway, estimated to cost $263,065, was cut from the project.  However, because the Building Committee and many citizens strongly felt that the proposed covered walkway was crucial to the building, the Friends of the Library and the Library Board established the Kinston-Lenoir County Public Library Building Enhancement Campaign Fund to raise funds.  This addition to the library would create additional architectural appeal and provide protection from inclement weather for patrons as they enter and exit the building. 

“The library is indeed fortunate to have generous benefactors such as the BB&T Foundation.  With the wonderful community support that the library receives, both from businesses and the private sector, we are able to provide the excellent services for which we are known,” said Agnes W. Ho, Director of Libraries.
