Community Supports Library Expansion Project

The Kinston-Lenoir County Public Library Building Enhancement Campaign Fund has received a donation from Mr. Reuben Davis of Davis Wholesale Tire Company in memory of his wife, Lucille. Mr. Davis made the donation on behalf of his family, including son Jeff Davis and his wife Pam, daughter Rhonda Davis Chance and her husband Matt Chance, and grandchildren Riley and Jordan Davis and Cole and Mattie Chance. Mr. Davis has long been a prominent member of the community, serving on the Lenoir County Board of Commissioners from 1974 to 1982 and performing philanthropic work throughout the area. “Kinston and Lenoir County have been very good to us,” said Davis. “We are very pleased to be able to support our community in return.” For more information on the Building Enhancement Campaign Fund, please call 527-7066, Ext. 130. |

Local artist Lisa Stump Shaw has donated one of her oil paintings to the Kinston-Lenoir County Public Library. Tyndall’s Seed Store (1974) vividly depicts one of the old storefronts in Kinston on Heritage Street from the early 1970s. Pictured from left to right are Agnes W. Ho, Director of Libraries, and Shaw. Ms. Shaw is donating this painting in honor of her mother, Betty Stump, who herself has donated many beautiful art books to the Library in honor of her parents. |

The Kinston-Lenoir County Public Library has received two paintings in commemoration of prominent local artist Mrs. Freda Badrock’s 100th birthday. Pictured from left to right are Mrs. Agnes W. Mrs. Craven presented the Library with one of Mrs. Badrock’s paintings, Garden Path (top), on behalf of her parents, Robert and Cicely Pipkin. “Mr. and Mrs. P.” have been two of Mrs. Badrock’s dearest friends for many years.
