The winners were drawn from the month-long contest during September celebrating National Library Card Sign-up Month and promoting the importance of library cards. The event was sponsored by the Kinston-Lenoir County Friends of the Library.
The drawing was for forty $10 Walmart gift certificates. The winners from the Kinston-Lenoir County Public Library were Devin Canty, Ashley Scott, Lendell Wayne, Thomas Anderson, Devone Wilson, Yvonne Cano-Ferreira, Barbara Bowen, Melanie Holder, Arthur Edwards, Ollie Grady, Gina Sabir, Laura Brown, Holman Skinner, Lisa Ford, and Earl Sanders. The winners from the La Grange Public Library were Ember Hardy, Gwendolyn (Joi) Lemon, Tiwana Randolph, Bernice Staten, and Jeana Eisenhauer. The winners from the Pink Hill Public Library were James Howard, Judy Murphy, Susan Cole, Jennifer Murphy, and Alvin Holland. Winners from the Greene County Public Library were Levi Kinzler, Laquita Davis, Margaret Evans, Ashonia Hines, Frances Jones, Marvia Starkey, and Beverly Barnes; and the winners in Jones County were Kenneth Murphy, Ann Kearns, Andrea Avery, Saundra Dunn, Ashley Fenstermacher, William Kahlert, James Woolard, and Kelsy Harbin.
“This contest was designed to highlight the significant value that a library card represents,” said Agnes Ho, Director of Libraries for the Neuse Regional Library. “The library offers a door to a world of information for people of all ages, and a library card is the key to open that door.”
At all libraries in the Neuse Regional Library System in Lenoir, Greene and Jones counties, any patron who checked out a book during September was eligible to enter his or her name in the drawing.
