Join us for a rocking afternoon! The Kinston-Lenoir County Friends of the Library welcome back the Donald Thompson Band on Sunday, October 21 at 3:00 p.m. They will perform in the Schechter Auditorium of the Kinston-Lenoir County Public Library. If you enjoy lively performances filled with toe tapping music, then this is a band you will want to see live!
The Donald Thompson Band features Donald Underwood Thompson on lead vocals, Chris “Jenx” Jenkins on lead guitar and vocals, Bill “Smilin’ Bill” Hunneke on harmonica and vocals, Bob “Shakin’ Aiken” on drums, Mickey Avalon on bass guitar, and Jackie “J.J.” Johnson on piano and Hammond organ. Together they deliver rousing versions of blues, vintage rhythm ‘n’ blues and classic rock, entertaining and delighting audiences of all ages wherever they go. The band’s colorful stage attire harkens back to the “cool threads” worn by the performers of the 1940s and 1950s. Couple this look with dynamic vocals, hot guitars, wailing harmonica, and in-the-groove drumming and you have a treat for both the eyes and the ears. Fans often comment on the band’s energy and the good time feeling that the band brings to every show.
