January 16-February 27

Welcome to Winter Reads, the Neuse Regional Libraries’ Adult Winter Reading Program. The theme for this 6-week program is “Healthy Minds and Bodies” and includes a Community Read. The only requirement is to register. Tickets can be earned by turning in completed activities and by attending a book discussion. All activity sheets must be turned in by February 27 to count toward the drawings.  All activities are subject to change.

The Community Reads selection is Mornings with Rosemary by Libby Page. Previously titled The Lido when originally published in 2018, Mornings with Rosemary follows the budding friendship between the elderly Rosemary Peterson and twenty-something Kate Matthews. Rosemary has lived in Brixton all her life but everything is changing around her. Kate recently moved to town and is assigned to write a story about the closing of the Lido, the community pool, to housing developers. Soon Kate’s portrait of the pool focuses on a singular woman: Rosemary. And as Rosemary slowly opens up to Kate, both women are nourished and transformed in ways they never thought possible.

Request a copy of the Community Read title at your local library. The list below contains all discussion group meeting dates, times, locations and contact information.
