Multi-Sensory Room
The Library’s Multi-Sensory Room is an inclusive and welcoming space that provides calming tactile and visual sensory input through free play and exploration.
Calming Areas
A Multi-Sensory Room is available in the Youth Services Department at the Kinston-Lenoir County Public Library. Patrons may reserve the space in 30-minute increments up to two hours per day. Sensory-Friendly Kits
Sensory-Friendly kits are available to borrow at the Youth Services Desk. Each kit contains a pair of sound-control headphones, sunglasses, fidget toys, and a weighted neck towel. Patrons must check out the kits with their library card.
Communication Devices
The Library offers a low tech communication board in English and Spanish to help patrons with their visit. In addition, all iPads in Youth Services are equipped with a communication board application.
