Back in July Neuse Regional Libraries introduced our new curated collections. These collections are designed to give the Neuse Regional Libraries a more modern bookstore feel to help our library users easily find titles they might be interested in. The curated collections include Trending Titles, Subject Spotlight, and Book Bins.
Here at the Pink Hill Public Library the curated collections have been a big hit. Our children’s Book Bins collection at this time are Things that Go and Sail the High Seas. Children have had the opportunity to discover books on cars, big trucks, boats, pirates, sea life, and much more. Children love to browse, so the curated collections give them a great opportunity to find the best books for them quickly and easily.
Our Trending Titles, which are meant to highlight currently popular books both old and new, have included books such as Little Fires Everywhere, Just Mercy, and The Hunting Party, with titles rotating bi-monthly. These books are in high demand and by offering multiple copies of each book, patrons are able to get these titles without a long wait. Taking a look at our Trending Titles can give you a good idea of what’s popular with other readers at the moment.
Our Subject Spotlight include non-fiction books of a specific topic. Pink Hill Public Library’s current topic is Let’s Get Crafty, which includes books on knitting, jewelry making, wood burning and painting with water colors. This is the perfect collection for people stuck at home with extra time who would like to learn something new.
Curated collections are great for people who want to check out some library reading but do not have much time to browse the shelves. Within five minutes you can walk around the display tables to see a variety of books, which in turn means you can be in and out of the Library with little contact with materials or people. We consider this a definite win during the current times.
Don’t forget you can also order books online and library staff members are still happy to bring them right to your car with Curbside Service. Our libraries always strive for excellent services and materials, and that has not changed during the current pandemic. We are dedicated to providing the best service to you while adapting to the current situation.
