Welcome to Kinston-Lenoir County Public Library

The Library offers resources designed for patrons on the autism spectrum, their families, and caregivers. Patrons who have similar social-communication challenges, or even typically developing patrons, may also find these resources helpful.

Calming Areas

A multi-sensory room is available in the Youth Services Department. Patrons may use this room at any time by visiting the circulation desk in Youth Services. The Library offers a low tech communication board in English and Spanish to help patrons with their visit. In addition, all iPads in the Youth Services are equipped with a communication board application.

LSTA grant awards are made possible by funding from the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) as administered by the State Library of North Carolina, a division of the N.C. Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (IMLS grant number LS-253645-OLS-23). LSTA grants are awarded in response to specific needs of public, academic and community college libraries. These federal funds are investments that help libraries deliver relevant and up-to-date services to their communities.
